Since 1994, Tiggy's has been dedicated to teaching everyone and anyone how to paint.
Tiggy's at crescent is an art school located in Crescent Beach, Surrey, BC, Canada. We teach classes primarily in acrylic paints on canvas but also in graphite, coloured pencil and mixed media. Our classes encompass all levels from novice painters to advanced students.
Our Mission
Tiggy's' 'raison d'etre' is to help you discover and grow your inner artist. We recognize that everyone has a creative side but may not yet have had the opportunity to develop it.
At Tiggy's, we provide a supportive and caring learning environment: one where each individual is enabled to acquire an excellent grounding in colour theory, painting techniques and brush control, and fundamental art principles through top-notch teaching and attention to your artistic growth and development. We CAN teach you to paint, even if you've never held a brush and don't think you can draw!
In all our classes, we teach:
- the colour theory behind the painting--the reason for certain colour choices and where and when to use them
- how to mix colours you need to the correct value, intensity and temperature
- the brush and/or palette-knife techniques to achieve the look you want
- design choices including placement of objects within a painting to encourage movement and flow
- different preparation and finishing techniques and methods
At Tiggy's school of art, the process is as important as the end product. We strive to teach the techniques and skills necessary to enable you, the art student, to become an independent artist.
Meet the teacher and founder of Tiggy's
Jackie Neufeld has been involved with some aspect of art for most of her life. From winning grade school art competitions to excelling at university art education courses, Jackie's interest in and proclivity for art in all its forms has only grown and intensified over the years.
Jackie obtained her Bachelor of Education degree with First Class Honours in 1979 from the University of British Columbia. She pursued a highly successful teaching career in North Vancouver schools before becoming a full-time mom to her two children.
In 1994 she combined her teaching skill with her love of art when she opened Tiggy's and began offering the quality classes that both Tiggy's and Jackie have become known for.
